Ok, so this isn’t anything new. It’s nothing I don’t see on Facebook walls all the time. And for the most part I’ve tried to rid myself of the people on FB that would post this shit. But on Tumblr, half of the freaking posts I’ve seen lately are about “your first love” or how much one is “ignored by their crush”. Do people realize how psychologically damaging it is to have this shit not only on their wall, but re-blogged and therefore reconfirmed by other people? 20 years ago, diaries were kept in a locked box next to a bed. Now we feel like everyone has to understand the shit we’re going through at all times, and have some idea about whats going on in our lives. Besides the fact that it looks so tacky, infantile, and whiny; it’s a never-ending circle: Girl feels bad about herself, wont talk about it in person, but exposes her underlying psyche to the world online, it gets seen by a dude and he looks at it as super unattractive, because of the obvious lack of confidence. Girls, stop FUCKING posting this shit. It’s for your own sake as well as mine.
